Toronto: Beers, Bacon & Butter Tarts Guided Food Tour

About This Experience

Explore Toronto's history, food, and culture on a guided walking tour through Old Town Toronto. Meet your local guide and walk through the city's historic district, where the streets still follow the original 19th-century layout. Along the way, learn about Canadian traditions such as hockey and Tim Hortons coffee, visit Berczy Park, hear stories about Meridian Hall, see the dog fountain, view local murals, and pass the Flatiron Building. Take a break with a cup of locally roasted coffee while your guide shares stories about Toronto's history, including cholera outbreaks, immigration, social reform, and how these events helped shape the city and its food culture. Continue to St. Lawrence Market, which has been part of Toronto's food scene for more than 200 years. Try the peameal bacon sandwich, often called the Toronto sandwich. You'll also learn about the history of Canada Dry Ginger Ale and its popularity during Prohibition.
