Visit Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Greece, on a day trip from Athens and experience the stunning, monastery-crowned rock formations while learning about their history and geography from a local guide. Your day begins with a comfortable departure from Athens, right across from the central train station, traveling in an air-conditioned coach with an English-speaking driver as you enjoy views of the Greek countryside en route to Kalabaka. Upon arrival in Meteora around midday, you'll meet your local tour leader and break for lunch in the nearby village of Kastraki, nestled among impressive rock formations. After lunch, set out on a guided tour through Meteora’s otherworldly landscape, visiting all six historic monasteries and getting an up-close look at the remarkable rocks as you discover the fascinating stories behind their construction and significance.
