Take a visit to the Jewish Quarter of Venice, and discover the timeless spirit of multiculturalism and openness that has always characterised the city, and is as strong today as it was during the Renaissance. On this tour, you will explore the Levantine and Spanish Synagogues, inconspicuously housed in a building apparently used as flats, and difficult to recognise from the outside. In medieval times, what would become the Ghetto in modern times was the area of the city where the public foundries were concentrated; only from 1516 was it designated as a compulsory residence for Jews. Your guide will give you a captivating overview of Jewish history in Venice, and the Jewish contribution to Venetian culture over the centuries.
